CADOTT, Wis. (WEAU) – High school students from Chippewa County had the opportunity to show off their skills in using equipment.

Cadott High School hosted an open house in technology and engineering on Tuesday. The student members of Cadott SkillsUSA organized the event, which aims to raise awareness in the technology and engineering department.

“There are all kinds of opportunities in the skilled trades, manufacturing, construction and so on. Said David Goodman, instructor in technology and engineering. “It doesn’t matter who I talk to, be it someone in construction, manufacturing or whatever, one thing they are looking for is skilled workers.”

The students used material to make European skull mounting hardware. Tuesday’s event is the second open day hosted by the technology and engineering department, and the hope is to do more in the future.

According to Cadott School District Community Website, SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, educators, and industry representatives, working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. It is a national non-profit organization serving high school and college teachers and students preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled services, including health professions. .

SkillsUSA is recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as a student organization for college and high school technology and engineering education programs. For more information, you can visit the SkillsUSA website.
