CHEYENNE, Wyoming (News Release) – UMC Technology Ltd. (UMC), a maker of fences and wire machines, celebrating 90 years in business, has a reputation for producing highly efficient machines – and is expanding to Cheyenne, Wyoming.
After the decision was made to establish a site in North America and careful consideration was given, UMC made the decision to choose the state of Wyoming for its manufacturing and sales facilities.
UMC identified many similarities between New Zealand and Wyoming. “The people are very friendly and hardworking, and the geography is similar,” said UMC CEO Mark Ullrich. “We felt right at home from our first visit to Cheyenne last year.”
UMC intends to be an American company, to fully immerse itself in the community and to engage with the people of the region. This new location, a first in the United States, will create 10 jobs, with other projects in the future.
UMC met with Cheyenne LEADS during their first visit to Cheyenne in late 2021. “Shortly after that first meeting, we committed to Cheyenne,” Ullrich added. “There has been a lot of support from LEADS staff, as well as the LEADS Board of Directors in making our move to Cheyenne a reality.”
“UMC Technology Ltd., is an ideal solution for Cheyenne and the State of Wyoming,” said Betsey Hale, CEO of Cheyenne LEADS. “UMC is a family business that offers quality jobs, great benefits and will be an active member of the community.”
The facility will be located in North Range Business Park, owned by Cheyenne LEADS, just west of Cheyenne. UMC plans to begin construction of its 20,000 square foot facility in the summer of 2022.
About UMC Technology Ltd.
UMC Technology Ltd. specializes in manufacturing metal fencing machines and recently launched its patented UMC Fence Lokk Machine (FLM) series. The underlying philosophy of UMC is more than just building machines, they strive to help create technologies that help improve the world we live in.
Their FLM machine is the only fence machine manufactured in the world capable of producing two different types of fence knots with the same machine. Combining decades of experience and innovation, UMC has been able to deliver a state-of-the-art, versatile, high-speed machine with built-in safety and extended functionality.
The design principles were first to create value for fencing manufacturers by providing a machine that provides knot-like flexibility and is safe and simple to operate. Second, to reduce the cost of entry for companies looking to enter the fabricated fencing business, or for existing producers looking to expand their product line. Third, to provide features to end users that will improve the welfare and protection of livestock or people interacting with a fabricated fence.
Following extensive consultation with the fencing industry, UMC has delivered a fabricated fencing machine that can be changed from one type of knot to another in hours, allowing fabricators to make savings of time and money. Other benefits of this new design include increased productivity and knot quality, reduced downtime and an improved working environment.
