NBAA Planners & Dispatchers Conference Returns Next Week

The NBAA Planners and Dispatchers Conference (SDC) will return as a live event next week. It will be held at the San Diego Convention Center starting April 5, marking the first time the annual event has been held in person since the March 2020 conference ended prematurely as the country experienced a wave of cancellations. events due to the spread of the covid Pandemic.

Originally scheduled for January 18-21, SDC2022 has been postponed due to the resurgence of the Omicron variant of the virus. While this iteration was originally planned as the normal four-day conference format, next week’s event has been shortened to three days and will incorporate some schedule changes as its organizers seek to provide the same amount of educational content. And, while SDC normally kicks off on Tuesday evening with a reception on the exhibit floor, this year the show’s educational programming will begin on Tuesday morning, continuing throughout the day until the opening reception. The refresher courses which usually take place on Tuesdays will instead be held on the Saturday and Sunday preceding the show. The opening welcome session will still take place as usual on Wednesday morning.

According to the NBAA, more than 350 exhibitors are expected to appear on the show floor and the organization expects more than 80% of its normal attendance.

As at its BACE show last October, which went off without a hitch, SDC attendees will be required to present proof of vaccination via the Clear app on a smartphone, or present the results of a recent negative Covid test. A testing facility will be on site at the convention center for those who have not brought test results and for international spectators who will need to present test results to return home. Face masks will be optional.
