Public Relations News | Sping publishes salary report
Spring Associates has released the 2022 edition of its official Public Relations Salaries and Bonuses report, which features recently updated information on public relations compensation across the country.
The report lists salary ranges for agencies and businesses, as well as a breakdown of the numbers on a regional and city-by-city basis. Regions covered include Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest and West. Metropolitan areas covered include New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, Houston, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.
In addition to data for the current year, the report compares compensation figures to last year and provides compensation analysis.
Reports are compiled from Spring Associates’ proprietary database of over 20,000 public relations and corporate communications executives who have met its criteria for inclusion. The company points out that none of the data is collected through salary surveys, which it says may include unverified responses.
The salary scales are further cross-checked with six of the most commonly used public relations titles (from account manager and communications specialist to executive vice president) and nine specialties (consumer, business / financial, health / medical / pharmaceutical, high tech, industry / B2B, internal communications, investor relations, public / government affairs and social media).
“The trifecta of pandemic, inflation and 6.3 million unfilled jobs continue to have a major impact on wages, employee retention and benefits,” said Dennis Spring, president by Spring Associates. “PR people and businesses find it hard to cope with all of these problems just to stay profitable.”
