3. About TOYOBO GS catalyst®
TOYOBO GS Catalyst® is an environmentally friendly aluminum catalyst containing no heavy metals developed by Toyobo in 2002. PET resins produced using the GS catalyst are highly transparent with excellent thermal stability. In addition, these resins hardly deteriorate during repeated melting processes, which makes them well suited for recycling. The GS catalyst has been used for PET bottles for beverages, among others. In 2017, Toyobo licensed Thailand’s Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited, the world’s largest manufacturer of PET resin, to facilitate its global use.
