Volunteer Fair Planned at MSSU – Newstalk KZRG

Joplin, MO — A student-led Service Fair will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9 at Missouri Southern State University’s Billingsly Student Center.

A variety of non-profit organizations will have booths available, where the campus community can learn about volunteer opportunities in the area. The event was created as an honors program service project by second-year pre-medical biology student Elizabeth Martin.

“I thought it would be a good way to show our students the opportunities for them to get involved,” she said. “It’s like a job fair, but for volunteers.

Organizations represented will include the Ronald McDonald House of the Four States, the Joplin Humane Society and the George A. Spiva Center for the Arts, Martin said.

Other events scheduled for the week of November 7 include Veterans’ Week activities, the Czech Film Festival final selection, Mass Orchestra Day and a performance by the Southern Symphony Orchestra.
